LOR-RAY CAMP ASSOCIATION - APRIL 2005 NEWS LETTER

Major Projects to Complete / 2005 Camping Rates / Family Camp Managers

WOW IT IS CAMPING SEASON AGAIN - Are you ready?? The Board of Directors at Camp Lor-Ray feel they are - and with your help so will Camp!!

There has been a lot of activity by the Board this past winter. The Board met several times to Call a retired Pastor to serve as Camp Manger and to hold services at Camp on a regular bases.

The 2004 Annual Meeting passed a motion that the Board of Directors Call a retired Pastor to be Camp Manager and to hold services at Camp each weekend..

The Calls placed by the Board were declined. The Lord did not provide a Pastor for Lor-Ray at this time. He has some other things in mind for us this season. We will continue to pray for guidance as we start another year of camping.

As most of you know - AI and Lois Witham have moved out of the area and are no longer at Camp. They will be missed by all.

Chairman Tim Hansen initiated a Church liaison program for Lor-Ray. Each of the Board Members will act as a liaison between camp and their respective churches. This is to aid in getting information about Lor-Ray to the congregations as well as help in recruiting membership to Lor-Ray.

If your church does not have a liaison and you or someone you know would like to be the go between for Lor-Ray please call Tim or Lori Hansen at 989-792-0131. Tim will be glad to update you with the activities and programs at Camp Lor-Ray.

Family Camp Managers -

There are three (3) families that are willing to serve as Camp Manager this year. The Board was unable to find anyone that could be at camp all season.

The three families are - Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Surch, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Akright and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Persicke. Between the three we hope to have a Camp Manager at camp each week or at least each weekend.

The Camp Manager sign will be in the front of the camper of the family that is "On Duty" that week.

Your understanding and patience are appreciated when dealing with issues at Camp that concerns the Camp Managers - we are all trying to ensure a nice God pleasing experience at Lor-Ray.

2007 Camping Rates:

To ensure camp remains solvent and is able to expand camp (there are another 30 sites and a new bathhouse that only need a little more work to enable opening them up). The Board would like to have these in service by the end of the 2007 camping season. It will take a lot of work and additional funds to make this happen. You, your work, and financial support are key elements to expanding camp. Camp Lor-Ray fees are half or less than those charged by comparable camping facilities. With you, volunteer help, membership fees, and donations we can keep the costs of Lor-Ray down.
